In a presentation I gave on stress, the group members came up with some examples of symptoms:

They actually listed many more symptoms. And if you have really paid attention when it happens to you, you know what it feels like as the stress surges through your body like a poison.

Modern stress derives from the sense of losing control in a swiftly changing world. Nobody escapes it. It's how you deal with it.

We all know, and sometimes engage in, the unhealthy ways people deal with stress (which serve only as a temporary numbing and escapism mechanism). What you need to do is learn better ways that work for you. It truly is your health, and your life, that is at stake.

"Often when a person can't get past stress, she will turn to overeating, drinking or smoking, which can become a greater problem than the stress itself."

"Stress doesn't only make us feel awful emotionally. It can also exacerbate just about any health condition you can think of."
